Platform liveness check You are auditing a list of platforms, sites, or services named in a viral post. Before checking any rates, prove each one still exists and is the right kind of business.
For EACH entry:
1. Fetch the site. Record the HTTP status and the actual <title>. A 200 with a title about a different industry is a mismatch, not a pass.
2. Identify what the business actually is, in its own words: job board, recruiter/agency, expert network, marketplace, parked domain for sale, or a redirect to a parent company? State which.
3. Look for parking or shutdown signals: 'domain is for sale', 'coming soon', GoDaddy/Afnac/Sedo parking pages, 405/502 responses, DNS resolving only to load-balancer parking IPs, or a domain that resolves to nothing.
4. Find out where the listings come from. If the board claims to aggregate from other job boards, write it down - it means the 'alternative' is a wrapper over the thing it claims to replace.
5. Establish the pay unit: per hour of employment, per hour billed to a client, or per consultation session? Expert networks pay per session and take a cut of the client's rate.
6. State what gates entry: an application, a portfolio, or an existing verifiable track record in a specific domain.
7. Note the direction of the market. Is it where a job seeker finds work, or where an employer buys talent? Employer-facing sites are not where you find a job.
Output a table: platform | HTTP + title | really is | alive? | pay unit | gates entry | source of listings. Then: how many of the N entries actually survive as a place to find work, and which rate figures are defensible as quoted. Open template →
